A series of long past due documented events

So it has been way too long since I last blogged. Not that I have any excuses, other than going back to work full time, having a baby, keeping up to shape with the house, joining the YMCA, Esau starting preschool and classes at the Y, crazy winter storms....on and on and on and on....

I have been recently made a new friend who is so good about posting her blogs and updating us on her beautiful little boy, that I have been feeling like I need to be better about keeping everyone up to speed one what's happening in our lives. Especially since some of our friends from New Mexico no longer are on Facebook (since it is an addictive, time dwindling endeavor). I commend them for being so diligent in not getting on Facebook and aspire to be less involved in such time consuming activities...nonetheless I continue to accept more friend requests and continue to view other's posts daily. It's something I have become accustomed to and look forward to at the end of the day...does that make me...what's the word? hmmm.....

Well, anyway...I wanted to update everyone on what's been happening in our lives thus far...or at least since my last post, which was shortly after Ira was born.

Ira: His birth was absolutely wonderful! My midwife was fantastic and I can't wait to be blessed with another baby...well, maybe I can wait a little bit :-) He is an exceptionally needy child, who requires much more attention and doting than Esau ever did. He loves to be held, and always is nosey in other's business and what they are doing. He always seems "on the go" even though he isn't very mobile yet. I'm sure in no time he will be crawling everywhere. Ira has been sick a lot recently...he got a little cold that we tried to treat at home with herbs and homeopathic methods, which eventually ballooned into full-blown bronchiolitis on the verge of pneumonia, with some crazy ear infections on top of that. Some seriously strong meds had him in the clear for about 2 weeks when he came down with yet another cold. His ear infections this time were so bad that the drainage was oozing out of his eye!!! I had never seen this before and hope we never see it again....we attribute much of Ira's fussiness to him not feeling well and have been happy to have his "ol' self" back in action. Ira loves his daycare and we do too. I know he is well cared for and I can go and nurse on my lunch break everyday, which is awesome :-) Ira is certainly a loud and very talkative kid and I assume we will have our hands full with his outgoing personality.

Esau: Well our rambunctious 4 year old never ceases to amaze us in his quest for autonomy. Just yesterday, we sent him outside to play on what was a relatively nice day (at least the sun was shining and the temperature was in the lower 40s). We have done this on many other occasions and he typically will stay in the yard. Yesterday was different...after exploring the remnants of one of our half eaten chickens (probably from a opossum or raccoon) in the back yard and then heading to the gigantic snow pile left from Erik plowing...we looked out and couldn't find him. Erik went out to check on him, to see him being walked home by a woman who lives 3 houses down. He later explained that he saw her and just wanted to go down and say "hi", which we firmly believe is the truth. It was tough explaining why that wasn't such a good idea, and which it was clear that he still didn't understand why we wouldn't want him to do that...I forsee this happening again, and as he gets older I guess I wouldn't worry as much, but he thinks he's big and well....he just isn't. Esau continues to be very head strong and independent (which he has been that way since birth). He challenges authority, speaks his mind whenever he feels like it, insists on doing everything on his own, determines his relationship with you based on whether or not you'll pretend to be a puppy with him and will let you know if he doesn't approve of what your choice is. He is, in the shortest amount of words, definitely "OUR" kid. He is very much like Erik and very much like me. He started his K-4 preschool class and is learning so much everyday. He loves to write, read, do puzzles, and anything nature or reality related. He drew an awesome picture the other day of a bunch of people riding a dinosaur...it was one of the most creative artistic pictures he has made in a long time and it was nice to see it again. He is very much all boy.

Erik: Well, Erik is very much enjoying living in Indiana, it seems like he is in "his element" here. He loves working at Designscape and really has a knack for what he does. This past winter he was promoted, which boosted hi morale and I think got him back into feeling like he was making a difference in his life, or rather advancing. Things have started to pick up at work....the sun peeks its bright head out and suddenly everyone needs their lawnmowers serviced and ready to go just in case it gets warm enough to make the grass grow 1/10 of an inch and they may need to mow....nonetheless it's a good reason to start feeling "springy." Erik has been super duper helpful around the house, which has been a huge load off of me and my anal retentive need to feel the house is in constant order.

Me: Well, things for me have been good. I started a new job at the end of September in my area of study, Deaf Education. I was amazed to find a job as the Hearing Specialist for Monroe County Schools since those positions hardly ever come open. I love my job and have been truly blessed to find it...it was in the stars :-)
